Pigmentation & Sun Damage

We are all born with radiant, supple and soft skin.  As we age, the skin begins to change due to a variety of different factors.  With our extensive training and knowledge regarding pigmentation, we are able to provide our clientele with in-clinic and home care solutions.

Formation of Pigmentation and Sun Spots

Epidermal hyperpigmentation, often referred to as Sun Spots or Age Spots, is caused by an overproduction of Melanin. Melanin is the pigment that determines both hair and skin colour in human beings.

Constant exposure to the harsh rays of the sun can easily create pigment spots on the most radiant and luminous complexion.

Pigment spots appear as red or brown spots on the surface of the skin.

Treatments We Offer For Pigmentation

Our two key services that we have determined to be the best non-invasive way of removing and brightening the skin’s overall appearance are – AFA Facial Gel Peels & Microdermabrasion.

Facial Peels

AFAs are based on the same natural acidic amino acids that serve to retain moisture in human skin.  They are also potent antioxidants and are extremely helpful against photo pigmentation.Peel

AFA Gel Peels gently remove the damaged outer layers of skin, while restoring moisture.

We carry five different levels of AFA Peels.  Typically, we begin clients with the beginner peels, and as the skin begins to build strength, clients are graduated to the advanced peels.

BONUS: Coupled with our honey-based mask, the skin is infused with antioxidants and beauty-boosting nutrients, resulting in a soft, supple and radiant complexion.

treatments. This facial treatment makes use of an instrument with a sand-like tip which gently exfoliates the damaged outer layers of skin, allowing softer, brighter and radiant skin to emerge.

We use a Gold Standard Machine in the industry – Silver Peel by Silhouet-Tone. This machine has four different levels of biocompatible, surgical grade, stainless diamond abrasion tips, allowing for surfaced pigmentation to be sloughed off.

Powerful exfoliation and vacuum action encourage the production of new, healthy skin cells, improving the skin’s appearance and reviving a youthful glow.

BONUS: Coupled with our herbal-extract organic facial, clients are able receive all the added benefits of the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals beyond the superficial layers.

Causes Of Pigmentation Spots
→  Pollution / Free Radicals
→  Sun Damage
→  Medication
→  Irregular Hormones
→  Chemicals From The Use Of Cosmetics

The most common reason for pigmentation is Sun Damage, as the facial skin is the most exposed part of the body on a daily basis.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

The number of treatments needed will vary depending on the amount of pigment present.  In general, we recommend a series of 3-6 AFA Gel Peel treatments which are done every 2-4 weeks OR a series of 3-6 Microdermabrasion treatments which are done every 3-4 weeks.  The best suited treatment for your pigmentation concerns will be determined after a full skin analysis.

In combination with these in-clinic treatments, we recommend incorporating a couple of our key skin-boosting botanicals.
